I am a mediocre melodist and a wrinkly rhythmed riddler, and by all means a far cry from a professional musician. However, music has always been my favorite form of art, and I have yet to find a better way of self-expression. It has forever been a hobby kept in my back pocket, only revealed behind closed doors and in small groups, but I have found much more happiness and value in sharing these words and songs with you. Most of my songs are wrung out from a fairly dark towel, but they don't necessarily always paint as darkly as their source.
The first Bricks & Honey album, When the River Ends, lyrically speaking, is almost entirely a result of losing my mom to cancer in 2016. I consider myself lucky that I was able to find comfort and solace in something as beautiful as music. The timing of the loss of my mom happened to coincide with me moving to Alaska, where I met Eric Holcomb, a super talented musician and technical wizard of a sound engineer. The two of us spent many nights writing and recording the songs that would end up on When the River Ends, and it is something that I am truly proud to have created.
Once Eric moved back to Utah, I was left to just my own thoughts, a guitar, and a newly developed (although very basic) knowledge of recording techniques. I have since experimented with various instruments and music styles, and have been recording songs in my house.
